Tips to Choose the Right Cornhole Board

Cornhole is a fun game, and you should keep that in mind before anything else. When shopping for a cornhole board, you should consider the quality and material to not break after just a few games. The cornhole board legs should be powerful too.

If you plan to organize a game night with your office buddies, you might also want to focus on cornhole led lights. They will give a classy look to your cornhole. But this is not all. There are many more things to look after before you finalize the board you want.

Here are some tips to make your task simpler.

  • Your Skill Set

Before you step into the market, you must consider your skill level. That will determine your requirements and what other factors to look for. If you are a beginner, you will want a cornhole board just for fun. Hence, spending too much might not be a good idea. Although, if you are planning to upgrade your skills, it might be a whole other scenario.

  • Sizes of the Cornhole

Cornhole comes in primarily two sizes; regulation size and tailgate size.

1.   Regulation Size: It is usually for professional and intermediate-level players. Its dimensions are 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 0.5 inches thick with cross-section. The height is 3-4 inches from the front, and cornhole board legs should be placed at 12 inches from the back. The hole should be 6-inch diameter and placed 9 inches from the top.

2.   Tailgate Size: These boards are usually for tailgating parties and casual play. They are smaller than regulation boards with 3 feet long 2 feet wide.

  • What do you want it for

It is vital to determine what you want the cornhole set for. If you are looking for one just for parties and fun, you might not want to invest as much. But if you are looking to practice and read a certain, it can be a good investment. Your skillset will determine the choice, but your need is also an essential factor. If you want it just for fun, you might also want to add cornhole led lights with your set.

  • Material of the Board

Your need and skill set will also determine the type of material you want to look for. A professional player will have no use of a PVC-based cornhole board as it will have a great deal of bounce. It will indeed be more portable, but it will harm the accuracy. But if you are buying a cornhole board just for fun, wooden ones might turn out to be too expensive. Although they have less bounce and better accuracy, they are not portable.

  • Availability of Cornhole Bags

A good cornhole set will be the one that has cornhole board and legs and cornhole bean bags. When on the subject of cornhole bags, also consider the size and material of the bags. A regular cornhole bag is 6 inches x 6 inches in dimensions weighs around 15 ounces. Some people prefer corn filling, but that's good too if you are okay with plastic resin-filled cornhole bags.

  • Additional accessories

A cornhole set consists of cornhole board and bean bags, but it'll be like a cherry on the cake if you can get some additional accessories. Some sets also come with a bag collector under the board, so you don't have to collect the bags again and again.

You can also look for a built-in scoreboard to keep track of the score while playing. Cornhole led lights are big YES if you want to play in the evening. The last thing to look for is in the cases where you can carry all of these things together.

  • Warranty

Make sure that you are buying from a trustworthy seller. Your cornhole set might be prone to a break-in cornhole board legs, or the bean bags might tear out. To save yourself from guilt and helplessness, always ask for a warranty and ensure that your seller doesn't deny it.

Closing Note

Other factors like different designs as per your choice adding sidings for better grip should also be considered. Surface designs are now customizable to make it of your taste. Portability is another critical factor to look for. All the above-listed factors are must-haves and should be carefully reflected on to avoid making mistakes.
